Garmin Nuvi 885T GPS Review Take Action:|
Get It The Nuvi 885T replaces the older Nuvi 880. This is Garmins top of the line GPS unit. One thing that sets this unit apart from all the other Garmin GPS units are the two front-facing speakers, located on both sides of the screen. This one also has a removable lithium-ion battery, which is a nice feature. If and when your battery stops holding a charge you have the option of replacing it. Operations can be performed with its touch screen or with voice commands. But the 885T has the following features not found on the earlier 775T
model: If your looking for a top of the line Garmin you'll need to decide what features you would rather have. Looking at both the 7x5 series or the 8x5 series. The 885T has an updated map screen. Which is a much-needed improvement. An upcoming turn arrow has been added, making it much easier to see the direction of the next turn. Also added is lane assist with junction view. When approaching highway intersections, the 885T displays lane guidance information, alerting you as to which lane you need to be in. When available, highway intersections are rendered in almost photograph-like 3D detail. 3D junction view isn't available as of yet for most areas, but Garmin will expand coverage with each subsequent map update. What we like about the Garmin Nuvi 885T: The best thing about the Nuvi 885T is that it is the best voice activated GPS available. We also like the custom avoidance feature where you can select streets or rectangular areas to avoid. What we don't like is the few missing features that the 7x5 series units have. This GPS is great if you do a lot of driving alone. The voice command feature makes it one of the safest GPS units to operate, and is the best voice command navigator on the market that I'm aware of.
